Retail price $119.00. **Warranty: 1 year** on base, element, and temperature control.
**Limescale damage is not covered.**

## Safety

- **Never submerge the kettle or the base.** The base carries mains power. Wipe it with a damp cloth only.
- **Neither part is dishwasher-safe.**
- Do not run the kettle with less than 250 ml in it. Running it dry trips the thermal cut-out.
- Do not use it on a stovetop. It is an electric kettle with a powered base. **It is not
  induction-compatible and not stovetop-safe.**
- Keep the cord clear of the hot body.

## Controls

| Control | Action |
| --- | --- |
| Dial, turn | Set the target temperature in 1-degree steps |
| Dial, press | Start or stop heating |
| Dial, press and hold 2 s | Toggle °C and °F |
| HOLD button | Maintain the set temperature after it is reached |
| Both buttons, 5 s | Factory reset |

The display shows current temperature while heating and the target while idle.

## Using it

1. Fill between the 250 ml and 1.0 L marks.
2. Seat the kettle flat on the base. It will not engage on a tilt.
3. Set the target and press the dial.
4. Press HOLD if you want it kept there.

**Hold ends automatically after 60 minutes.** That is designed behaviour, not a fault.

## Temperatures we use

| Coffee | Target |
| --- | --- |
| Ardent — Ethiopia Yirgacheffe (light) | 96 °C (205 °F) |
| First Light, Huila Reserve (light-medium) | 95 °C (203 °F) |
| Lowlands Blend, Nightshift Decaf (medium) | 94 °C (201 °F) |
| Blackpine — Sumatra Gayo (dark) | 93 °C (199 °F) |
| Forte Espresso | 93 °C (199 °F) |
| Green tea | 80 °C (176 °F) |
| Black tea | 95 °C (203 °F) |

**Altitude:** water boils below 100 °C above sea level — about 98 °C at 600 m. The kettle cannot reach a
target above the local boiling point and will run until it times out.

## Pouring

The gooseneck is tuned for a slow, straight pour rather than a dramatic one — about 8 g/s at full tilt.
Start pouring from a low height near the centre and spiral outward.

It has no valve, so it will drip from the spout if tilted past vertical. That is not a fault.

## Descaling

**Limescale damage is specifically excluded from the warranty.** Scale insulates the element, makes
temperature control inaccurate, and eventually kills the kettle.

| Water | Interval |
| --- | --- |
| Hard (above 150 ppm) | Monthly |
| Moderate | Every 2 months |
| Soft | Every 3 months |

The full procedure is in the Ridgeline Kettle Descaling Procedure. In short: 500 ml of 1:1 white vinegar
and water, heat to 60 °C, sit 30 minutes, pour out of the top, rinse three times, boil and discard one
full kettle of clean water, dry the base contacts.

Never use a wire brush, an abrasive pad, or bleach — all three damage the element coating, and that damage
is also not covered.

## Troubleshooting

| Symptom | Cause | Action |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Nothing at all | Outlet, or contacts | Test the outlet; reseat flat; dry the contacts |
| Display on, no heat | Thermal cut-out tripped from running dry | Unplug, cool 30 min, fill to 500 ml, retry |
| Heats slowly or stops short | Limescale | Descale |
| Temperature reads wrong | Scale, or sensor fault | Descale first; more than 2 °C off afterwards is a warranty claim |
| Hold switches off | 60-minute limit reached | Designed behaviour |
| Drips when tilted | Open gooseneck, no valve | Not a fault |

## Warranty summary

One year on base, element, and temperature control against defects in materials and workmanship. **Not a
lifetime warranty.** Limescale damage, drop damage, submersion, and second-hand units are excluded.
